Cookies and Songs

Friday morning we had no plans and Hayes naps now from 8:30-11 so we are stuck at home during that time. So I decided to come up with some fun things for Carrie to do one of which was baking cookies together. We have decorated cookies before, but Friday I let her actually help in whole process. So I found a kid friendly cookie recipe...had no eggs so she could help roll it out and do cookie cutters which was fun. She loved putting in all the ingredients and helping me mix it up.
Here are the pink-ish cookies that she cut out before they went in the oven.
It was hard to explain to a 2 year old that they then needed to bake and cool before we could decorate and eat them! But she you know what always helps her wait? Mickey Mouse Clubhouse :). Finally they were ready and I iced them for her so she could do the sprinkles. After she ate lunch, it was time for her to eat one and she is such a freak about having anything on her hands that it took her about 30 minutes to eat the cookie because she was trying to avoid getting messy the whole time. But she sure did like it!!! She told me Hayes wanted to eat one and I told her she could when she was a big girl which may be the next time we make them together :) haha. No, but it was fun...I am like her, though, in that messes overwhelm me so for things like this, I just have to let it go and let her have fun being a 2 year old. It makes the mess worth it to see her having a good time.
And here is a little video of Carrie singing to Hayes. Hayes is such a chatterbox that she couldn't keep her mouth shut and had to join in so it became a duet. It was pretty cute. Carrie has been such an amazing big sister to Hayes lately and it is fun to watch. Hayes used to flinch a little when Carrie walked up to her, but now she smiles. It's pretty great!
The weather has been so nice here for January which has allowed us some time outside which has been so nice. We all took a walk yesterday and went to the playground and it was so good to get some fresh air. And today are and tomorrow are going to be sunny and in the 60s so hopefully we can enjoy some more fun time outside! When we are stuck inside so much because of Hayes' naps, it's nice to be able to get outside a little bit. Hope it continues!!
