Rolling Rock 2013

Another fun summer trip to Rolling Rock last week! Had nice, cooler weather and some good family time. Most of our days were spent with graham and my parents on the golf course and me and the kids at the pool followed by our sweet sitter up there, Barb, coming and us eating some delicious meals at the club! It's always such a special week and we really enjoy it.

This year we decided to break up the drive there by stopping at the Cincinnati zoo and then spending the night in Columbus, OH. It was a perfect way to make the drive fun and not so long!

Definitely couldn't find a place to stop and eat lunch so stopped at a country kitchen in the middle of nowhere, KY. It ended up being so good!! We think we will try to find dives to stop at from now on!

Next stop, zoo! We had read Cincinnati zoo was one of the top 10 zoos in the country and it really was a great one!

Lions...

Baby flamingo feeding (apparently they aren't pink until they're 2...who knew??)

Cotton candy after a visit to Tom the cheetah (who was awesome and will be in November National Geographic)

C had a blast getting this really cool unicorn face paint.

They loved the penguins! They were funny and had lots of personality.

C petting one.

Playground...

Piled in the stroller...lasted until Hayes started hair pulling.

Polar bear was my fav. Kept walking up, then falling onto his back and doing some backstroke swimming.

This peacock apparently got loose which was hilarious because we saw him several different times and places doing his own tour of the zoo.

Rhino.

Carousel of course.

And the choo-choo. Hayes is obsessed with trains right now.

Sunday we got to Rolling Rock at Lunch time so had a yummy lunch at the pool then went home for naps. Afternoon was spent swimming. The next morning it was chilly! We put on fall clothes to play outside until it got warm enough to swim!

This we swam the rest of the day.

And stopped for a snack :).

Mermaids.

The next morning was chilly so we went to town. I love the small, charming town. It is a little town square with cute shops and restaurants. We just walked around checked it all out and stopped at the toy store of course!

The it was afternoon swimming!

And another pool day.

Lunch looked like this every day...

They have the best food. Lu ch is good and dinner at the club is amazing!! Kids can't eat dinner there yet because H is still too young but made for a little vacay time for me to have a sitter for them at night.

Girls had a lot of whatever they wanted...vacay. Just undoing it now :)

We got the sitter for Wednesday morning for a couple hours for Hayes and took C to town for a haircut and pedicure. She always enjoys a little big girl time!

We only had 1 rainy day...Friday. So we took the girls to the club down through the woods to the fish hatchery. We made it a big adventure through the woods on a dirt road and since its a private small road, we let them sit with us (gasp) and be explorers! They LOVED it. Thought we'd never get them back in their seats :).

Then we went cosmic bowling! They had a ramp for kids to use so my kids had a blast!

Hayes favorite part were the nachos...duh. Couldn't get her to leave!

The afternoon was still wet so we went to the playgrpund and just played and got dirty and messy in the creek. It was fun! We had a great dinner Friday night to celebrate my dad's birthday. It was a good rainy day.

Saturday am, we packed up and drove a long 9 1/2 hours home!

It was a fun week! RRC is such a special place and a wonderful tradition.

Now we are regrouping and getting ready for a trip to the beach!
